Best Games of 2021: Here Are WhatsGood’s Favourites For The Year!
#3 Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
Best Writing and Character Development
My biggest fear is that people are going to look past this absolute gem of a game from 2021. The very mediocre Avengers game left a bad taste in many people’s mouths, and to have that affect this wonderful game’s performance would be a crime.
When you go into a game that has characters that look different from the ones you’re used to in movies (again, Avengers), it’s not very often that you come out the other end wanting to see more of these characters instead. Out of the games I played this year, this is the one that dug its way into my heart the deepest.
Review Verdict: ★★★★½
I loved every minute of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the amazing exchanges between characters made me laugh so many times, and even though I also spent a lot of time ogling the gorgeous environments and having fun with the gameplay, nothing tops the immaculately handled growth of the characters into a group that I so badly want to hang out with again in future.

#4 Resident Evil Village
Best Game Featuring A 9 Foot Tall Vampire Lady
The Resident Evil games are pretty much their own seal of quality these days. The recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were awesome, but for Village we return for a first-person direct sequel to the absolutely excellent but incredibly terrifying Resident Evil 7 Biohazard.
When I think back to my experience with Resident Evil Village earlier in the year, it does strangely feel like its impact on me has faded somewhat compared to the other latest Resident Evil games. The reason might be that in many ways, Village is a “greatest hits” Resident Evil experiences, rather than a focused one. It could also be down to the fact that it’s also a little more action-oriented than previous entries.
Let me be clear though, I don’t want to take anything away from it because it’s still a magnificent game, and one that I can still recommend wholeheartedly to gamers who aren’t too afraid of the dark.
