Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels Could Be EVEN BETTER – Read or Watch
Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels Review: The first Hot Wheels DLC expansion in Forza Horizon 3 was a great idea. I just didn’t like it. There was so much potential that was never realised, and in the end it got too excited but never lived up to the promise.
Does the Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels add-on finally give us an experience worthy of the famous Hot Wheels brand?
We think it just might.

Are We There Yet?
There’s a lot to like here. The Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion launches you high above Mexico, taking you to an orange, loopy, windy, wonderland.
The new world is just magical, featuring a wide variety of environments and gorgeous views. An instant improvement over the previous expansion is the variety of track types; there are magnetic tracks, waterslides, ice tracks, bumpy bits, boosts and more.
Another major improvement is that they’ve mixed up the Hot Wheels tracks with real surfaces, finally allowing more creative and varied events such as Sprints, Cross Country, Stunts and more to go with the cool Hot Wheels surfaces. There is a more linear progression compared to the base game, starting you in class B and having you work your way up.
I also really loved these great missions that explore the history of Hot Wheels too. While you’re in those races a character explains the origins of certain cars, why the tracks are orange and more.
As expected there are Hot Wheels cars available and there’s also some themed clothing and items to unlock.
The race layouts are great with some really creative sections looping around mountaintops, driving through volcanoes, sliding through icy canyons… It’s a blast.
Needless to say the graphic still look amazing even when running in the silky smooth 60 frames per second performance mode.
The Hot Wheels expansion finally provides the kind of creativity and craziness you’d associate with this inspired toy company that means so much to so many of us.
I still think that Playground Games can push the boundaries even further though, and give us something closer to a Mario kart experience with power ups.
Those of us who were lucky enough to experience Blur in the 360/PS3 era aren’t holding our breath for a sequel at this point, but Forza Horizon has all the tools needed to make it a reality.
So please, Playground Games, make our wish come true.
The Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion is the breath of fresh air that Horizon 5 needed and it’s available at a reasonable price. We recommend that those looking for an excuse to jump back into Forza horizon 5 definitely check it out.
