Gears of War: Reloaded Review – PS5, Xbox
When Gears of War landed on Xbox 360 back in the day, the graphics were unbelievable, and its heavy characters slamming up against cover and chainsawing enemies felt truly special.
If you’ve got a PS5 or never played Gears on Xbox or PC, then this review of Gears of War: Reloaded is just for you.

Controls and Gameplay
These days, the controls can feel dated and unintuitive to newcomers, especially using the A button for running, taking cover, and dodging, but you’ll get used to it. The DualSense’s haptic and speaker effects are a pretty neat addition on PS5, too.
Graphics and Visuals
Visually, it’s a light remaster of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One, which was itself a visual overhaul of the original Gears of War on Xbox 360. It looks great and is still a massive upgrade over the original.
Campaign and Multiplayer
The campaign only clocks in at around 7–8 hours, but it’s a fantastic ride that’s fun alone and even better in 2-player online or split-screen co-op.
I sunk around 2000 hours into Gears of War’s versus when it first came out. It’s incredibly unique and such good fun when played with the right people, and now comes with servers, netcode, and crossplay. It may not hold up quite as well today, especially for newcomers getting absolutely smashed by veteran players.
